Questionnaire
This is the questionnaire which I conducted to find out more about the music magazine industry. This involved finding out what people around my school do to read about the music industry. It was great to do and I used the results to my benefit as you can see below.

I can see from this that the most popular genre of music magazine from the people I asked is Rock. This shows me that there may be potential for a gap in the market for a new magazine based around the rock type.
Using the results from my 1st question, the respondents chose there should be above 60 pages, with good detail on every page, therefore my magazine has 70 pages all together.
Half of the respondents said that on the cover of a magazine, they would expect the main image to be a well known band/artist so I created a persona for a teenager called Craig who is a professional rock artist.
I discovered from my market research that pop music is the most popular out of the 100 members of the public I asked, I also looked in a local supermarket and saw that there are already a lot of pop music magazines. So I went with the second favorite option which was rock music.
I discovered that my audience expects some sort of information about a particular band/artist so I sat Craig down for an up close and personal interview for all of the readers to read about first! Giving them what they want.
My questionnaire discovered that my target audience of the British public will perhaps go out of their way to but a Rock magazine from any supermarket, but my magazine has the option to order online weekly if need be, because a lot of people will order them online too.
In the majority of Rock magazines that are distributed, they come with freebies, but issue 113 didn't come with one, despite what I discovered in my questionnaire, but this issue came with a chance to win Tenacious D tickets which is a special occasion for Rock.
After looking at what the majority of what my target audience said about purchasing a certain amount of magazines in a month, I went against what they said and decided to release an issue of Rock weekly to give them more of a chance to pick up an issue of Rock. If they are our target audience, hopefully the design of the Rock magazines will encourage them to purchase a Rock magazine weekly.
Looking at current music magazines and seeing that they charge roughly £3.99 per issue, I went against what the majority of the target audience said and realised for us to make a good profit for the good quality of magazines we make, we need to keep our prices high, but not as high as your average music magazine.
The majority of people I questioned said they like the color red best for a music magazine, but they had no idea that my magazine would be rock themed, so I went against what they said again to enhance the image of what I had in my head for my magazine to look like. So I decided to go for a black and white theme in general, throughout the magazine.
